Camping
There is only one camping site in the Helsinki region, the Rastila
camping (website is only available in Finnish right now),
which, unfortunately, is rather far away from the
city centre. It is, however, very close to the Rastila Metro
station, see map here,
which takes you to the centre in twenty minutes.
The camping site is situated just north of the Metro station
(marked with "M" on the map). It is also quite expensive for a
camping site. We are currently trying to find
some other possibilities for the camping enthusiasts, but the
situation looks a bit bleak.
Hostels
Hostels, more comfortable than camping or school boarding,
but not as expensive as hotels.
UPDATED! Hostels supporting ECMC:
The Stadion
Hostel is situated on the Olympic Stadium, so you can get
to the race venue in just... Actually, it is on the race venue! So
get up and get out and you're on the race course. Mention ECMC 2006
when you are booking your room/bed and get nice discount: 2,5euros per night!
Hostel Academica
also supports messengers with same discount: 2,5euros per night. Contact Paula Pekuri or
Maija Mannio when booking your room/bed and mention ECMC2006.
